Margerett's Memo

November 2009

 Hello Dear Friends

This month I would like to discuss business and mention some of the simple things we can do to make a difference to ourselves and others.

Firstly I will mention the mix of people a business needs. It needs leaders and team players. It also needs established people and people recently joined. These I will refer to as "old" blood and "new" blood. Now this is really exciting as we have our core group of "old" blood. Those valuable people who know the business, know what to do and how to do it. Then we also have our young bloods. The up and coming of today who have enthusiasm, energy and lots of new ideas. What a great mix! Everyone bringing something unique to the business. The number of "newbie's" joining recently is really great. These are ladies who join and get active right away. They buy the product and use the product. They "show and tell" to others and their enthusiasm is so great they sign up others with ease. WOW! Way to go, ladies.

At Head office we get excited about new developments and the manufacture of our products. To see hundreds of bottles of "Surfs up" on the production line is really great. A feast for the eyes. Have you ever had a bottle of Surfs up with the sun behind it? It looks stunning!

Before I get carried away talking about our Acorn & Risso products, lets look at some hints and tips I have chosen from a range of books called "Transform the way you live and work"

The first book is titled DEVELOP CONFIDENCE, and has this to say.

"Confidence is the key to leading a successful and happy life, you cant function well without it and you need it to help you in every area. Good confidence levels make taking decisions easier and smooth the way in making friends, building relationships and helping you to maintain a successful profile at work."

Some tips on how to do it:

Be aware of and confident in your special qualities.
Think in terms of making the most of what you have to offer and work to develop it.
Invite feedback and listen to it with an open mind.
Remember - eye contact is a powerful tool used by confident people. It can maintain, command or yield communication.

Remember - CONFIDENCE CAN BE CREATED AS WELL AS INHERITED!

We must:

Behave as though we believe in our own success.
Choose to remember past successes in all areas of our life.
Be conscious of our underlying thoughts at all times.

Next up is: TIME MANAGEMENT

Good time management moves you from being active to being effective!

The setting of priorities is the way to winning back control of your time. So that you can rise above the chaos of your daily activities and work our your priorities, you first need to assess what you really want from your life. Set sharp, clearly defined goals so that you can measure and take pride in their achievement.

A fully comprehensive To-Do list will help de-clutter your mind.
Don't forget to schedule in time for admin and organization when you plan your work.
Practise how to say "No" - Turning down requests can and should be done in a positive and constructive way.

Work out a set of stock responses to help negotiate your way through this situation. For example: I am so over-committed right now that I will not be able to do this job justice. As Henry Kissinger once said: "There cannot be a crisis next week. My schedule is full!"

Next in line is UNDERSTAND SELLING

Effective selling is the foundation of all business success!

Understand the relationship between a customer and an effective sales person.
Make a strong first impression by looking professional and having the right attitude.
Communicate persuasively, understand when to listen, and ask the right questions.
Identify the customer benefits of your products.
To overcome any nerves you may feel when meeting a new prospect and to appear more confident, simply pretend that you are meeting an old friend.
The ability to listen without interrupting is invaluable.

Although your product may offer many attractive features, remember your customer will only purchase what they feel the need for, or will use.

And the final thought from this little book - IF YOU ARE FAILING TO PLAN, YOU ARE PLANNING TO FAIL!

Our next little book is titled ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS, and has this to say.

Think Smart
Your unconscious mind does not understand the word "not", so its important that you learn to talk to your unconscious in a way that it will understand.

Get More Effective Results
Get more effective results from your unconscious and from other people by telling them what you do want them to do, rather than what you don't. If a parent tells a toddler "don't touch those sweets" the toddlers unconscious mind hears "touch those sweets"'. So focus your unconscious on the positive, not the negative.

Limit the Drama in your Life
We all face a certain amount of challenge and difficulty, some more than others. However, some people seem to attract difficulties even in straightforward situations where none previously existed. This may reflect an unconscious need to be the hero or heroine in their own life story. When things are going well, they will unconsciously find a way of disrupting them so that they can continue in their heroic struggle. Ask yourself if you would be happy to get what you want easily. You may be creating more drama than you need to be successful.

Keep the Good Aspects of Your Life
Make sure your vision of the future keeps the good aspects of your life now, this will reduce your resistance to change. Our longest held beliefs may be the most limiting. Did you know that difficult people make the best teachers?

Be Careful What You Wish For
The traditional Chinese saying "be careful what you wish for" are very wise words of wisdom and a give us lot to think about. It makes me realise that "success" is not made up of one big leap, but many little, important action steps. It is like building a brick wall, one brick at a time. This means we can see success as we go along our life path. Each little success we see motivates us to achieve more. Remember, never compare yourself to others. Always compare yourself to the way YOU were! Recognize and congratulate yourself for your achievements, no matter how small you think they are.

We all have special talents and qualities and we need to appreciate them!

Just to mention, as you read this, I am in London doing 2 weeks of study. This was part of my goal setting for this year (just made it!). I want to become a "Personal Image Consultant". Firstly it goes with my belief that we are never to old to learn new skills, and secondly, if you really want to do something, you will make a plan.

I have noticed, over the years, that the universe does really help you to get what you want. There is just one trick, your vision needs to be as accurate and as specific as you can. If we are muddled and unsure in our own mind, how can the universe know what it is we want? Something to think about and see where you can sharpen up your ideas - then, BE PREPARED!

It is going to be an exciting season, with new products, great specials and much more.

P.S. One request from Management: when you do recruit someone please assist them with completion of the Application Form and make sure your name goes into the "Sponsors" detail section. If this is not done we do not know the connection to you. Many thanks.

Happy Selling
Until next time

Margerett

The Recruiting Competition

Remember - the recruiting competition has only one month to go before 2 couples win those fabulous prizes of a weekend in Cape Town. And don't forget that everyone has a chance - you get an entry into the draw for every person you recruit and activate. Nows the time to give it a go.

Member of Note

This month, it gives me great pleasure to announce that our Member of Note is:

Brigitte Bohmer

What a girl! She joined in July 2009 and is giving it stick. She is taking part in the "Whistling Duck" Country Christmas Market, in Luneburg on 7th November, and she is so confident in our Acorn products and her selling ability, that she purchased everything for her stand. Well done Brigitte. Keep up the good work. If anyone is around Luneburg on 7th November, go and support Brigitte. A very worthy Member of Note!

Don't forget, send me your "Member of Note" to mem@new.co.za
