Hello Everyone
The Festive Season is upon us and I am writing to you from my garden. I decided to sit here so I can admire the greenery while I write. The theme of my memo is "Appreciation"
As you know, I recently spent 2 weeks in England, in a town just outside of London. I love the UK and think of it as my second home. My parents came from England to settle in South Africa, after the war.
I must tell you, everything in the UK is great, except for the negative portion of the population. I have never seen such a bunch of unhappy people in one place. Everything works over there. They have fantastic trains & you can get anywhere. In fact you dont really need a car. Do they appreciate it? Not at all. While standing on the train station I heard, "the train is 3 minutes late, again". The bus service is great, with a computerised voice telling you the name of the next stop, and how many minutes to get there. I took the bus a number of times, each time enjoying the experience. Do our British friends appreciate the great bus service? Oh no!
I got to thinking about all this, and I know we South Africans also take things for granted. Our country is very different from the UK and we dont have the same level of services, so what do we have?
A more friendly, outgoing population, that is for sure. We have beautiful scenery. Anywhere in the country you can drive a short distance and stop to admire the view. Those of us lucky enough to live at the coast can admire the sea daily. Here in Cape Town we have fantastic Table Mountain, which can be seen for miles around, standing majestic.
We need to appreciate the little daily things in our lives. We have a great choice of fruit and vegetables here. Lets enjoy them. As we know, there are many countries without that luxury.
Getting back to my garden, I cant count the many different shades of green. How boring it would be without colour. The ACORN tree in our garden looks especially great. When I look at it I think of all you good people, using and selling our Acorn/Risso products with much energy and enthusiasm.
Lets make it a daily practice to notice and appreciate the little things in our life. When the frogs in our garden keep me awake at night, I remind myself it is a sign that our air is clean and healthy. That saves the frogs another day! It is natural to not notice what constitutes a normal day, but with practice we can change. We can appreciate the little things!
At Acorn, we had our first full year and we have achieved many things.
A big THANK YOU to Robert who has put together our special flyers, new brochures (which have been flying out the door), advertising material and much more. The Acorn look has been upgraded and is something we can all be proud of. There will be many more exciting products in 2010. The world cup is not the only event we have to look forward to.
We have enjoyed hearing the many success stories achieved by our Acorn family members. You have inspired us! Your determination to succeed, in the face of difficulties, has been great.
Our competition has been a challenge and a good number of you have been "in it to win it".
On a personal note, my UK training was a great success and I am now a qualified Image Consultant. It is good to assist others feel better about the way they look. As for myself - everything brown must go!
All that remains is to wish you well over the Festive and Holiday season. If you are going away, have a good trip and come home safely. If you are staying at home, treat as a holiday and do some local sightseeing.
Best Wishes & Seasons Greetings until next year
Margerett

Product Improvements

As I'm sure you are all aware, our development team is constantly at work trying to improve our products. In doing so, we also take note of your comments, which are always kept in our "wish list" of new products and improvements.
I am really pleased to tell you about 3 improvements this month.
Firstly, Sun-Safe Zinc Oxide - New packaging that really looks super!
Secondly, Green Surfs-Up is now a beautiful bright green, unlike yellow.
Thirdly, Pink Surfs-Up is now a lovely bright pink, not at all like the red.
Keep letting us know what you would like to see - if its possible and fits with the overall picture, we may be able to do it. [Please note - the colours in the picture are dependant upon each persons screen settings - they are not exact].
