Margerett's Memo January 2010

Margerett's Memo

January 2010

Hello Everyone

A big welcome to 2010!

What better way to start the New Year than buy a new lipstick!

Dita Von Teese said "There is no such thing as a plain woman. Everyone has attractive points, so my advice is to accentuate your best assets"

Lets start with colour. If you are not sure what colours suit you, buy either a scarf or tee shirt in a new color. Wear it and see what compliments you get.

What colour says about you - here is a summary.

Red  -  you are outgoing and an optimist.
Orange  -  means you are kind hearted and sociable.
Yellow  -  you are shy, yet imaginative.
Green  -  you like family life and make a good teacher.
Blue  -  you are conservative and like the quiet life.
Purple  -  a sharp wit and keen observer are your traits.
Brown  -  a colour for conscientious and dependable people.
Grey  -  you are cautious and a good mediator.
Black  -  intelligent and polite (that goes for all of us!)

Use colour in order to create the impression you want to give!

A must have this January is a good hair cut. Ask your hairdresser for advice on your face shape and suitable hair style. Some guidelines:

Oval face  -  most hairstyles will suit this face shape(lucky you!)
Round  -  add height on top and shape onto face to reduce width.
Oblong  -  full at sides, lightly feathered. Avoid long straight hair & height on top.
Square  -  add height, with movement at sides. Avoid bobs.
Heart  -  a fringe is good. Chin to shoulder length will suit most.
Diamond  -  a fringe adds fullness. Avoid showing ears and hairline.

NB: If you are not sure of your face shape, get some chalk and draw around your face in the mirror.

Lets move on to EYES. The one basic rule is do not use the same colour eyeshadow as your eye colour. So, if your eyes are:

Blue  -  use brown or grey.
Brown  -  use pink & silver.
Hazel  -  use auburn & gold.
Green  -  use purple & mauve.

If you want to try a different eye colour, but dont want it across the whole lid, use as a liner just above the lashes.

Ladies, the key is experiment, experiment, experiment. A new colour or look can do amazing things for us. Do it NOW, whilst the year is young.

LIPSTICKS! WOW, that is a difficult one. There are thousands of colours out there. Also, have you noticed, when you get the lipstick home, it never looks the same colour it did in the shop.

An interesting tip, test the lipstick on your finger tip, not hand. The blood vessels in our finger tips most resemble our lips. I bet you never knew that & neither did I until recently. Do you want a natural lip colour? Fold your bottom lip down and the color of the inside lip is the most natural for you!

A lip pencil works well. First outline your lips and then fill in with pencil. Rub in with your finger. You can then either apply lipstick or lipgloss. Lipstick lasts longer on top of the pencil.

When you use your moisturiser (Akina, of course) wipe across your lips and eyelids as well.

Another tip, this time for our foundation. Test the colour on your forehead, not the jaw line, where shadows tend to form. The right colour will blend in so well you will not know it is there.

Do you have a great cream blush? You can also use it for lips as well as eyes. A great 3 in 1.

Ladies, I could go on and on, but in conclusion, we never get a second chance to make a good first impression - it is vitally important that we understand how to look our best in any situation. If your image conflicts with the message you are trying to convey you will have a difficult task getting the right message across. Gaining confidence in your appearance will:

- Eliminate a worry.
- Improve body language.
- Make the spoken word come more easily.

If you look good - you will feel good - and it will show!

MAKE 2010 YOUR YEAR TO LOOK AND FEEL GOOD!
